Master Ryuho Okawa, born 1956 in Tokushima, Japan, is the founder of Happy Science. He graduated the University of Tokyo, and has devoted his life to exploration of the Truth and ways of achieving happiness. In March 1981, he received his higher calling and awakened to the divine part of his consciousness, El Cantare. After working at a major Tokyo-based trading company and studying international finance at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, he established Happy Science (Kofuku-no-Kagaku in Japanese) in 1986. Since then, he has designed spiritual workshops for people from all walks of life, from teenagers to business executives. He is known for his wisdom, compassion, and commitment to educating people to think and act from a spiritual perspective.

Master Ryuho Okawa has published more than five hundred books, including The Laws of the Sun, The Golden Laws, The Laws of Eternity, The Laws of Happiness and The Essence of Buddah. His books have been translated into many languages and have sold millions of copies world-wide. He has also produced successful feature-length films (including animations) based on his works. The members of Happy Science follow the path he teaches, sharing his teaching with those who need or desire assistance.
